Diet: Insectivorous.

Weird Info: When threatened, frilled lizards display their large frill around the neck, open their mouths, and hiss to intimidate predators. They can also run bipedally on their hind legs to escape danger, speed 48 km/h.

General Info:

• Frilled lizards inhabit savannahs and sclerophyll woodlands, preferring areas with good soil drainage and a variety of tree species, primarily Eucalyptus. They are arboreal, spending most of their time in trees.
• They are more active during the wet season and less observed during the dry season, during which they seek shade in the branches of the upper canopy.

Περίεργη πληροφορία: Όταν βρεθούν σε κίνδυνο ανοίγουν τη χλαμύδα (το δέρμα λαιμού) ώστε να μεγαλώσουν το μέγεθός τους, επίσης ανοίγουν το στόμα για να διώξουν μακριά τον εχθρό. Τρέχουν στα δύο πίσω τους πόδια με ταχύτητα 48 km/h.

Γενικές πληροφορίες:

• Ζούνε σε σαβάνες, και δασικές περιοχές. Προτιμούν περιοχές με ποικιλία δέντρων, πάνω στα οποία περνούν και την περισσότερη ώρα τους.
• Είναι πιο δραστήριοι την περίοδο με έντονη υγρασία και λιγότερο την περίοδο ξηρασίας κατά την οποία αναζητούν την σκιά των δέντρων για να προφυλαχτούν.
