Diet: Mainly feed on crabs and octopus, larger individuals feed on a greater proportion of fish, the majority of which are reef-associated species.

Weird Info: Protogynous hermaphrodite species, reaching its first sexual maturity as female at 5 years and becoming male at 14 – 17 years of age, and between 80 to 90 cm.

• This marine species is solitary in nature. Each grouper has its territory and is known to stay immobile there for long periods
• It lives among cracks, crevices, and boulders along rocky coasts from the surface down to 300m.

Η περίεργη πληροφορία για τους ροφούς: Είναι ερμαφρόδιτα πρωτόγυνα. Τα θηλυκά φτάνουν στην ωριμότητα στα 5 χρόνια και μετατρέπονται σε αρσενικά στα 14 – 17 χρόνια (περίπου στα 80 – 90 εκατοστά)
